More About
Elitza started her yoga practice in 2000, and has found it to be the most reliable regulation tool physically, mentally, and emotionally. She has an organic ability to hold space, provide support, healing, and guidance for others through yoga and life coaching and laughter.
She did her 500-hour yoga training with Birkam Choudhury in Los Angeles in 2003. Her 200-hour yoga teacher training was at Yoga Works NYC in 2007, followed by certifications in Kids and Prenatal Yoga in 2008. Elitza has completed Yin and Therapeutic intensives with Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers. She attended birth support doula training in 2018.
Since 2004 her main teacher and mentor has been the radical prana vinyasa flow catalyst Shiva Rea. Elitza has nearly 2000 hours of studying with and assisting Shiva globally. Shiva Rea has sparked her awe and practice of the divine feminine. David Life and Sharon Ganon have infused the love of prayer, chant and devotion in her practice. Seane Corn taught her to forge an active connection to spirit. Alan Finger reminded her to keep studies serious and practice light. Elena Brower has shown her what being present with the mud and the lotus can look like. Dana Flynn taught her to fly, be wild and goofy and playful, especially in her 50s. Rodney Yee and Alison West have been wells of inspiration in precision, discipline and mindfulness, woven in with wicked wit and an eye for the poetry of life.
Elitza’s class style is a blend, which evolved with practice and deep listening to the breath and body in the moment. You will be challenged in an intuitive, creative and intelligent way. Her class aims to work every direction, every muscle, and every joint, using pranayama and alignment awareness. She is especially interested in assisting students connect to their inherent power, self-appreciation, confidence and healing potential.
She gets by in a bunch of random languages. Her favorite language as a yoga teacher, life coach, mother and wife is sacred silence and active listening. Some days more effortlessly than others. She adores her shiny college teen, her husband and her three cats. You can find her baking, gardening, chanting, smudging, reading, writing, hammocking , jogging, hiking, biking, kayaking and being in awe of the dance of light. Travel and theatre and stars bring her endless joy.
