More About
Melinda came to yoga as a way of relieving the stress of her School Administrator career. She completed her 200-hour teacher training at Stone Wave Yoga Studio in Gardiner, NY in April 2020, and her 300 Hour training in November of 2021. These training not only gave her a deep understanding of the asanas, or postures of yoga, but also instilled a deep appreciation of yogic philosophy and ancient wisdom.
She continues to take classes and teacher trainings to increase her knowledge about ways to make yoga accessible for all. She received certification in Yin+Restorative yoga and Prenatal yoga from Stone Wave Yoga and Senior/Chair yoga online from the Yogamu Institute. She continues to build her knowledge on the Eight Limbs of Yoga and Ancient texts and has organized a Yoga Book Club that meets weekly on line to discuss books and related material with like minded Yogis. She is also a graduate of the Jaguar Path School of Shamanism and has been initiated as a Pampa Mesayoq, or Earth Keeper, by the Quechua Elder's in Peru connected with the training.
She strives to incorporate the teachings of Yoga and Shamanic practices into her daily life and to share her love of yoga and learning with her students. She continues to build her knowledge on the Eight Limbs of Yoga and Ancient texts. Additionally, she draws on her training as a T’ai Chi and meditation teacher to enhance her classes and way of life.
About how Melinda incorporates Yoga into her daily and professional life, “Yoga helps to keep me grounded and grateful for all that life has to offer. When my mind starts to wander and ruminate, it brings me back to the present moment, where all is well. It has deepened my breathing patterns and improved my overall health and well being. In my working years, yoga helped me to relieve the stress of my School Administrator position. Now in retirement, I am fortunate to be able to share my passion and teachings with others.”
